After weeks of mounting pressure, BBC Director-General Tim Davie and Deborah Turness, Head of BBC News, have both resigned following explosive revelations from the leaked Prescott Report.

The report exposed serious and systemic bias inside the BBC — from the editing of Donald Trump’s 2021 speech to the platforming of antisemitic voices on BBC Arabic. Prescott’s letter confirmed what our campaign, journalists, and whistleblowers have been saying for months: the BBC has lost its moral compass.

Faced with growing outrage and parliamentary scrutiny, Davie announced his resignation on Sunday evening, calling it “my own decision” but acknowledging “mistakes made” under his leadership. Turness followed, admitting that the continuing scandal had caused “damage to the BBC.”

This is a major victory for accountability — and for every person who signed, shared, or spoke out. But this is not the end. The BBC must now face an independent inquiry into systemic bias and antisemitism, with full disclosure and structural reform.

Together, we’ve shown that truth still matters. Now, we must ensure the BBC can never again silence it.
