The man responsible, Srinivas Potluri, a landlord with a vast portfolio of properties, has turned a blind eye to his tenants’ pleas, leaving families to suffer in homes that fail to meet even the most basic standards of safety and livability.

Background:

In 2023, Potluri purchased three Greensboro apartment complexes for $14.34 million. Since then, rather than fulfilling his promises of improving conditions, he has reportedly stopped authorizing repairs, including in cases of life-threatening neglect due to no heat. Public records confirm the city has even reached out to the N.C. attorney general’s office about allegations of racial bias under his ownership.

Lincoln Grove Apartments (116 units)
New Garden Place Apartments (76 units)
Alexander Homes (40 units)

Why This Matters:

These communities, housing 232 families, are crumbling under his mismanagement. Despite lofty claims on his business website that he “maintains properties to the highest standards” and “cares deeply for his tenants,” residents tell a much darker story. Families at New Garden Place Apartments face:

• Skyrocketing rents, forcing many to the brink of homelessness.
• Freezing temperatures, as broken heating systems go unrepaired.
• Dangerous hazards, like collapsing ceilings and sparking electrical sockets.
• Disregard for accessibility, with no handicap parking provided.
• Eviction threats used to silence tenants who advocate for their rights.

Even as these issues pile up, Potluri continues to profit. From his home in California, he manages over 2,400 rental units across North Carolina and South Carolina, with 62 LLCs under his name. He has built his empire on the backs of vulnerable tenants while neglecting their most basic rights.

The families who call New Garden Place Apartments home deserve better. We are calling on:

1. Srinivas Potluri to immediately address the maintenance failures and unsafe conditions in his properties.
2. The City of Greensboro to enforce housing codes, impose fines, and ensure Potluri complies with the law.
3. The North Carolina Attorney General's Office to investigate allegations of racial discrimination and tenant rights violations, holding Potluri accountable under the Fair Housing Act.
