Hold Sigma Alpha Iota Accountable for their Racism (Ithaca, NY)

Hold Sigma Alpha Iota Accountable for their Racism (Ithaca, NY)
The Issue
I joined the fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota last fall and unfortunately, it has not been a safe place for me. I was promised a safe and inclusive place to be a musician, and that was not given to me. There were many instances where racist comments were made, and everyone in the room laughed, encouraging this behavior. These comments included comparing the fraternity to the KKK, comparing me to a dog "because I'm brown", sympathizing with racists, and general dismissiveness when I brought this up (all occurring in March and April of 2023). The president of the collegiate SAI Epsilon chapter said that they told the national executive board of SAI what was going on, but when I met with the board, they said this is the first they have heard about it.
This is all I ask to come from either the national organization or the Epsilon chapter.
1) An apology that admits fault from every person in Sigma Alpha Iota last semester, except those who are people of color, for creating this environment.
2) The money I spent on initiation and national dues back ($300).
The president of the collegiate Epsilon chapter told me it's not my business because I left the fraternity. I met with the national president of SAI, the "Eta A" province officer, and the Vice President of collegiate chapters and they all say that none of these individual requests can happen immediately, and they can't talk with me again until one month from now. I do not believe these people when they say they are taking this seriously because an investigation has not been opened. Immediate action must happen.
Please sign this petition so I can show them how important this is and show that you also believe this must happen by the end of the semester (December 15th).
