Raising Cane's built its entire brand around "One Love" — a message of warmth, loyalty, and care. But federal inspection records tell a very different story about what happens to the chickens in its supply chain.

For six years, government inspectors documented horrific conditions at Bachoco OK Foods, one of Raising Cane's chicken suppliers. At a slaughterhouse in Oklahoma, live birds were found piled in a dumpster beneath the bodies of those who had died in transport. Workers were reported "repeatedly using excessive force" and slamming birds into metal shackles. Conscious chickens were sent into tanks of scalding water. One truck carrying thousands of birds was left without food, water, or any care for at least 37 hours.

At Bachoco's Arkansas facility, 19 chickens drowned after a line stoppage left them submerged in a water tank for 26 minutes.

These weren't accidents — they were the result of years of neglect that federal records show went unaddressed.

Raising Cane's has the power to demand better from its suppliers, or to walk away from them. A brand that names itself after a beloved dog and markets its food as made with love cannot claim ignorance of what happened to these birds.

The chickens who drowned, burned, and died in the cold deserve accountability. So do the customers who trusted this company's brand.
