The case gets more bizarre...

Thank you for your support!  Please continue to share.  This is going to be an uphill battle, I believe.  In speaking with some attorneys, here are some of the reactions we received.

One attorney said she had "no doubt that they [the police] treat Pedro like a second class citizen" but mentioned this particular department had so many connections it is hard to hold them accountable.  Another lawyer who spent 10 years as a Philadelphia criminal attorney said never in his career has he seen anyone arrested over something like this and, if anything, there should have just been a simple summons in the mail.

This complete denial of Pedro's civil rights forced him to wake up Christmas Eve morning in a county jail.  Anyone of color and anyone who is not a native speaker of English should be scared and concerned.  This is discrimination, and how does it stop when even attorneys are afraid to take on the cases because the system is so corrupt?  It starts with each and every one of us sharing this link, using our voices, and shaking enough trees until some apples start to fall!  It's time to hold the police accountable.  

We even looked into filing a report against the police.  Did you know not every police department has an internal affairs division?  And guess who you need to reach out to in those cases if you want to make a complaint against the police... the police chief himself.  How convenient! The boss, who is likely a key player in any problems, is the one to whom you need to make a complaint.  This is not acceptable!  This is complete corruption!  Let's change this!  Please circulate this petition!
