Nancy Mace must resign as Congresswoman for SC District One for refusing to meet with her local constituent base. Let her continue to run her campaign for governor. She does not represent us as Low Country Sandlappers and she does not represent the values of The Citadel, which provided her name recognition to get to the public spotlight. Both the citizens of SC District One and members of The Long Gray Line demand that our elected representatives reflect the desires and needs of their constituents. That starts with the basics: talking to the people who put her in office. Not dismissing our concerns as “fake news”; everyone sees you as who you are and you will be held accountable during the next election. 

Nancy Mace has built a career on the basis of being the first female graduate of The Citadel. She matriculated with three other females as an academic sophomore and so graduated a year early; she took the recognition from the other three for herself. She is now taking The Citadel’s ring, supposed to represent Duty Honor and Respect, and showing the entire country that it means nothing to be a graduate of what was once a hallowed institution. Her entire persona, her national identity, is built upon exaggeration and dramatic flare. We demand accountability. 

Nancy Mace must hold an open town hall for her constituents, location posted in advance and without prescreened questions, or resign her position. SC deserves ELECTED officials who serve with duty, pride and honor.
