The Issue

I would like to share my story, which illustrates a grievous oversight in our healthcare system. I was in a motorcycle wreck where I informed the emergency room that I couldn't feel my legs. They neglected to provide me with a thorough examination and released me with a diagnosis of a broken hip. Incredilbly, three years later, a chiropractor discovered my vertebrae in my neck were all sideways. Despite efforts to find an attorney to represent my case, using the point of discovery loophole, I was unsuccessful. This highlights an injustice in our current medical system and the urgent need for reformation.

Medical negligence is a serious issue. In fact, medical errors are the third leading cause of death in the United States, accounting for more than 250,000 deaths annually according to a study by Johns Hopkins. This signals a desperate need for increased accountability within our healthcare providers.

The current statute of limitations offers protection to negligent medical providers and prevents victims, like myself, from obtaining justice and necessary reparations for their injury. I live with daily pain and face a financial burden that I cannot bear due to a significant medical error.

It's time to make a change. We demand a revision in the statute of limitations concerning medical negligence, holding medical providers accountable regardless of the timeline. We need to ensure that victims of medical negligence have ample time to realise what has happened, find representation, and seek justice.

Please stand with me to battle this systemic flaw and bring justice for all victims of medical negligence. Sign this petition to demand a revision of law regarding the statute of limitations for medical negligence.
