My family is deeply affected by the practices of the Marianna Housing program in Marianna, Arkansas. As a mother, I feel the urgent need to be closer to my children to support them and help raise them. However, I have experienced firsthand, and through my family, the systematic obstruction by the program which is impacting our ability to qualify for necessary grants and support, including those meant for housing like Houdini grants.

The housing program is allegedly targeting individuals, and unfairly placing liens on properties without justification. This action hinders many families, including mine, from obtaining the support we desperately need. Housing is a fundamental right, and being unjustly prevented from accessing resources not only cripples financial stability but also strains familial relationships.

A fair and transparent housing process is essential to the well-being of the entire Marianna community. We urge the Marianna Housing Authority to cease these discriminatory practices and implement transparent policies that ensure every resident is given an equal opportunity to access the support they are entitled to. This includes conducting fair reviews for grant eligibility and removing unjust liens placed without proper cause.

Residents of Marianna should be allowed to thrive without the fear of losing their homes over biased and unsubstantiated claims. These housing programs were designed to aid the community, not burden it further. Reforming the current practices will ensure that no family is left struggling beneath the weight of institutional biases.
