I rescued my, at the time, 3-month-old puppy who had been wandering the streets and was more than likely dumped. He had parvo, and my husband and I had to do everything we could to save his life. Soon after that, there was a backyard breeder at our local Walmart selling more puppies of the same breed which turned out to also be infected with parvo virus. Backyard breeders sell these poor animals without care of where they will end up; meanwhile yesterday 6 dogs were killed at the pound and eight more today.

We need local authorities in Roswell, NM to take immediate action against irresponsible pet owners and backyard breeders who neglect their animals. These practices lead to unnecessary suffering for countless dogs and contribute directly to high euthanasia rates in our shelters. By enforcing stricter regulations and penalties for those who mistreat or irresponsibly breed pets, we can help ensure that no more innocent lives are lost due to cruelty or neglect.
