I am a resident of Somerville, and over the past year, I have endured six lengthy power outages between June 2025 and June 2026. It's frustrating and unacceptable due to the high amounts we pay in this city. These outages disrupt our lives, businesses, and essential services, leaving families without light, air conditioning, or the ability to preserve food. The duration and frequency of these outages indicate a systemic problem that needs urgent attention.

Somerville, a vibrant community, deserves better service than what we are currently experiencing. According to recent data, power outages like these can have significant economic impacts, from lost work hours to spoiled perishable goods. Our city's resilience is compromised, and the wellbeing of families and businesses is at stake.

Eversource needs to be held accountable for these disruptions. Our community demands transparent communication about the causes of these outages, a detailed and actionable plan to prevent future occurrences, and proper compensation for customers affected by these outages. With the right maintenance and infrastructure investments, Eversource can and must do better.
