I am writing about this, because I feel that dog owners, whose off-leash dog attack another dog (more than once) need to be held accountable. There is this dog, who is bigger than my dog, and for some strange reason has a problem with my dog.  Sometimes, when I take my dog, out for a walk, the bigger dog would start to bark at my dog, when it sees my dog or senses that my dog is near. 

During one summer rainy day, while I was taking my dog out for a walk, the dog that is bigger than my dog, was off-leash and the moment, that dog spotted my dog, it started to run and attack my dog. Once that dog was pulled away from my dog, the owner walked up and acted as if they didn’t do anything wrong.

There have been other incidents where, the same off-leash dog, charged and attacked my dog. One being on the evening of Christmas Eve and the other taking place a few days after New Year’s Day. In all those instances, when that off-leash dog attacked my dog, the owner acted as if they did not do anything wrong, and try to say so otherwise. 

In one of the incidents, this took place a few days after New Year’s Day, the attacking dog even bit and left a mark on my dog, and my dog had to be in a cone for a week, and could not do his usual activity. After my dog was attacked by this bigger off-leash dog more than once, my dog had a difficult time, socializing and interacting with new dogs. Even though the new dog might be friendly, my dog has became cautious and wary, as he does not know whether the new dog, may attack him or not. 

Imagine taking your dog out for a walk, and an off-leash dog charges at your dog, and starts to attack your dog, now imagine that same off-leash dog attacking your dog a few more times, and the owner acting like they did not do anything wrong, how would you feel?

For those who have dogs, know how precious their dogs are, and the thought of seeing your dog getting attacked by an off-leashed dog, is unfathomable. 

I am standing up for what happened, as I believe that this situation could happen to anyone, and for people who have been in a similar situation as me, and share a similar view.
