Here is the latest from the Asbury Park press:

Repair work at Asbury Park's Paramount Theatre starts this fall; reopening remains unclear

This does not mean the venues in convention hall are opening anytime soon. If the reporter wasn’t on the case, and forced a response we would have no information from the city about this or updates at all.  He contacted them to follow up. And put them on the spot to respond. They are estimating $80-$100 million to renovate the building. Where is that supposed to come from? I see nothing very hopeful here at all. They’re using state money to make some exterior repair repairs. Fine. Still no investment at all from the building owners to actually reopen the convention hall and Paramount theater. This has been going on for years and the condition just gets worse. We can all speculate what the real end game here is but it’s not going to end the way many of us want to see it any time soon. Not to mention the other side of the boardwalk with the casino “building”, and if you can call it that, is another disaster. This is such a drag on the resurgence of Asbury Park. Asbury Park will not truly be “back” until this is figured out. We are all getting played here by the city and Madison Marquette. They had to wait to get a state grant and for public pressure just to replace the corroded toilet seats in the convention hall bathrooms.  This should really be intolerable to everyone. I wish more people would speak up. share the petition and let them know how unacceptable this is.
