On the 12th July 2024 at 8pm, the Cathouse social media handler advised me that Cathouse would be open to a video call between myself and those affected by the venue, including: ex-employees and attendees.
They referred me to their emails where we would be able to establish how and when we would organise for a video call. I did so and on the 13th of July at 12pm, I sent over an email to have this arranged immediately.
Myself and another did not receive a reply for a week after, therefore, I commented on their post to enquire. Within an hour of my comment I was unexpectedly blocked- along with other victims who came forward to them- with an email from Cathouse management refusing the video call and requesting for an in person meet up with only myself.
I replied to them that I have previously stated three times that I do not consent to an in-person meeting and yet still I am met with continuous pressure from Cathouse to meet this demand.
Cathouse received backlash regarding blocking myself and victims as many relied on this movement to influence change and communicate with Cathouse in order to ensure it be successful and properly implemented; others saw it as silencing and disregard for those who have fought so long to be heard.
Consequently, Cathouse removed the ability to comment on their posts in order to limit those who were still attempting to speak out.
The venue has made no comment on the “Dunkings” and when enquired by another individual, advised the specific employees to get in touch. This however contradicts greatly as this is what the video call was aiming to achieve.
Cathouse proceed to make no comment regarding the growing allegations other than they will not tolerate any accusation against themselves without evidence- ignoring the hundreds who have came forward including ex-employees.
For many, the video call appeared as an opportunity to resolve the issues which have been ongoing since April. To have that agreed upon then denied was incredibly disappointing.
I and other victim’s remain blocked from Cathouse.
We will persevere however and encourage safety for women, men and non-binary individuals.
(further information: Cathouse was scrutinised on 15th July 2024 by many in their comments under a pride post. Individuals praised the inclusion of Doctors Without Borders, however, some were sceptical of Cathouses intentions regarding their pride party and highlighted that many of the individuals who have came forward with allegations at their venue are part of the LGBTQ+ community and are yet to be acknowledged.)
Thank you for your continued support,
Micha
