Good evening.

Here’s an update on the petition: Over the weekend, further discussions within the community have underscored the urgency to hold the leadership of BMFI accountable.

Yes, they have issued an apology, but it was too little, too late!
To cancel a movie that is unrelated to the war or politics simply because it is Israeli is unacceptable. When I spoke with my 95-year-old grandmother in Israel, this reminded her of the dark days in Hungary, as antisemitism grew increasingly rampant, just before she was sent to Auschwitz.

Was this done out of antisemitism or malice? Unlikely. It appears to be a surrender to antisemitic and anti-Israeli pressure. For a film institute that champions apolitical global culture and expression to succumb in this manner is inexcusable.

So far, about 750 people have expressed their strong agreement by signing the petition. In the next few days, it will be submitted to the leadership of BMFI.
Please consider sharing this petition with your family, friends, and community members.
Thank you for your continued support.
