Hi everyone, while we continue to wait for an official Apple Service Program, I wanted to share an update based on what I’ve observed in the community and my own experience with this issue.
I’m encouraged to see a growing number of success stories in the Apple Support Community and other online sources, where customers have secured free replacement screens for their M1 iMacs after working with Apple Support. It’s still frustrating that achieving this often requires multiple interactions, but it’s heartening to see more people getting the repairs they need.
On a related note, I’ve noticed that many forums flag and remove direct links to this petition due to their posting rules. If you want to share the petition, I recommend using a link shortener and omitting the standard prefix (http://) to avoid creating a live link. While this makes it slightly less convenient for readers, it reduces the chances of the link being flagged or removed.
As for my personal journey, my approval for a free screen replacement in early December faced some delays with my local Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP). The main issue was that the replacement screen kit didn’t include the correct adhesive tape to seal the iMac, forcing the AASP to reorder the seal from Apple. Their distributor was also out of stock, which caused further delays. Despite the setbacks, I’m happy to share that I finally received my repaired unit today, and everything is working perfectly again. My only out-of-pocket expense was the initial diagnosis fee at the AASP.
For those experiencing this issue, I encourage you to continue engaging with Apple Support through their online chat and phone channels. Be persistent but respectful, and don’t hesitate to explain your situation multiple times if needed. Also, consider posting your feedback on Apple’s website and forums to keep the issue visible. From my experience, patience and persistence can pay off — after two or three interactions, I was granted my replacement.
Good luck to everyone still navigating this process, and thank you for continuing to advocate for a resolution!
