I am a proud Marine veteran who has dedicated my life to serving my country and protecting its values. Tragically, my beloved service dog was unjustly killed, leaving a deep void in my family. What makes this situation even more heart-wrenching is the blatant disregard for justice and accountability demonstrated by the officers involved.

The Department of Civil Officers, particularly officer Samantha Smith, bears the primary responsibility for this devastating incident. Despite my repeated attempts to provide evidence, she refused to consider it, compounding my anguish and frustration. In conjunction, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department, specifically Deputy Smith and Deputy Gannon, displayed a shocking lack of professionalism by dismissing crucial video evidence and eyewitness testimonies that could have provided clarity and justice. Deputy Gannon's own report even acknowledges certain facts, yet no appropriate action has been taken.

As a Mother, I am deeply concerned about the message these actions send to my children. They witness law enforcement officials skirting the justice system, corroding their faith in those meant to protect and uphold our rights. My children's future should be one where accountability is synonymous with justice, not one where authority figures can act with unbridled impunity.

I passionately urge Cattaraugus County to hold these officers accountable by thoroughly investigating this incident. Immediate actions should include terminating Samantha Smith from her post for her misconduct and investigating Deputies Smith and Gannon to understand why they compromised the integrity of their duty.

Furthermore, I demand all documentation regarding my service dog be disclosed. My family and I deserve transparency about our loss and assurance that justice will be served.
