The Issue

As a concerned member of our community, I am deeply worried about the impact data centers could have on our environment. While data centers are essential for the digital age, the large scale operations require significant water and energy resources, potentially straining local supplies. Additionally, the construction and operation of these facilities could lead to increased carbon emissions and disruptions to the local ecosystem.

Our community should have a say in whether we welcome these data centers into our midst. A referendum would provide a democratic process where every citizen can voice their opinion on this critical issue. This isn't just about today—it’s about the legacy we leave for future generations. We must weigh the economic benefits against the environmental costs, and the best way to make an informed decision is through direct democratic engagement.

In addition to environmental concerns, there are issues related to noise pollution and increased traffic which must be taken into account. Residents in areas where data centers have been built have reported higher noise levels due to cooling systems and increased vehicular activity. These factors can significantly affect the quality of life for those living nearby.

Moreover, lessons from other communities indicate that promised economic benefits, such as local job creation, often don’t materialize as expected. Therefore, it's crucial for us to thoroughly evaluate all potential impacts.

We have the right to shape the future of our community and ensure that it stays a healthy and sustainable place to live. By signing this petition, you are supporting the call for a referendum, granting each of us a voice and a vote on this important matter. Let's stand together and ensure our community's priorities are respected.
