Hold a District 6 Candidate Forum Before the November Election
The Issue
We, the undersigned, urge Councilmember Natali Fani-González to participate in a public debate or joint candidate forum with her opponent, Louella Tham, before the November election.
District 6 voters deserve an opportunity to hear both candidates answer the same questions and explain their plans. Many constituents have sought more opportunities for open, general question-and-answer sessions with Councilmember Fani-González.
A candidate forum would give residents a timely chance to ask about issues that affect their communities, including:
-How will the candidates address the county’s budget challenges and the burden of rising taxes?
-What will they do about police staffing and public safety in Wheaton?
-How will they involve residents in decisions about the University Boulevard corridor and other transportation and planning changes?
Ms. Tham has agreed to participate in such an event. We ask Councilmember Fani-González to do the same and to work with a neutral host to schedule a forum that is open to the public before voters cast their ballots.
Please sign to support a public conversation between the District 6 candidates. Whatever our party affiliation or preferred candidate, we all benefit when voters can hear directly from those seeking to represent them.
