Ban animal circuses & bull riding at the Sears Centre (in Hoffman Estates, IL)

The Issue

Please sign and share widely to urge Hoffman Estates' officials to stop allowing animal abuse and exploitation in their town.

Each year, the Sears Centre, in Hoffman Estates, IL, hosts bull riding and an animal circus.  This year, the venue hosted the Carden Circus.

Here are just a few of Carden's violations of the Federal Animal Welfare Act:

The circus refused to allow a veterinarian, two inspectors, and the operations manager with the Chicago Animal Care and Control Center to perform an inspection of the elephants during the circus’ appearance at the UIC Pavilion. A circus representative said, “[W]e’re not going to let you in.”

Fulton County Animal Services conducted a series of inspections during UniverSoul Circus’ visit to Turner Field in Atlanta. During one inspection, the following were noted: A camel named Emmett had a 3-inch-long laceration on his right hind leg, a camel named Larry had a swollen ankle and foot that needed to be treated and drained, a zebra had a wound or rub mark on his nose, and several horses had cracked and chipped hooves that were “in bad shape.”

The USDA cited George Carden Circus International for failing to provide tigers with proper nutrition. Eight of the 10 tigers were underweight, and their hip bones and backbones were prominent.

And what's wrong with bull riding?  Just last year, a 'cowboy' died after he was stomped on by a bull during a bull riding event.  We're quite certain that Mayor McLeod, all of the Hoffman Estates Trustees and the Sears Centre's GM doesn't want a person or a bull dying at their venue from this unnecessary and cruel activity.

During a Professional Bull Riders (PBR - the same outfit that the Sears Centre hosts) event in 2017, a bull broke his leg and proceeded to be pulled by his tail in circles until he was eventually taken backstage (and most likely killed).  This is not humane nor family friendly!

It's high time Hoffman Estates progressed like the rest of the world is and say no to activities that harm those with no voice.

Thank you very much for taking action and please share widely!
