Remove the 2010 Blackhawks from the Stanley Cup

Remove the 2010 Blackhawks from the Stanley Cup

The Issue

The actions of the Blackhawks Organization caused irreparable harm to multiple victims of Brad Aldrich in 2010 and beyond. Leadership's concern with winning a championship over the health and safety of Kyle Beach and the future victims of Brad Aldrich is revolting and unacceptable in today's society.

Based on statements made by the victim himself as well as multiple witnesses, the report published by Jenner & Block, LLP, and other reputable members of the league, it is clear that the crimes committed by Brad Aldrich while he represented the Chicago Blackhawks were widely-known within the organization -- from top leadership down to players and trusted media persons.

The entire Blackhawks organization won the 2010 Stanley Cup negligently and their lack of morals should not be celebrated or tolerated. Leaving this group of people on the Stanley Cup taints the legacy of the tournament, the sportsmanship of the league, and the values of its fans. Honoring a group of people who knowingly excused sexual assault disrespects the healing and fight for justice of Kyle Beach, the victims of Brad Aldrich, and every survivor of sexual assault.

By leaving the names of men who would aid and abet a criminal on a symbol so revered as the Stanley Cup, the Hockey Hall of Fame and the National Hockey League offer a bastion to would-be abusers. The 2010 Chicago Blackhawks must be removed from the Stanley Cup immediately.
