It seems government will implement IR35 reforms irrespective of public opinion, facts or promises during election. It is very unfortunate as most Tories including Philip Hammond and Sajid Javid have spoken against it in past. HMRC presents a rosy picture on IR35 and a carrot of extra £1.3 bn revenue which alters their mind. Election promises on spending needs money and IR35 seems easy win but no one realises this is like culling the golden goose who lays the egg. HMRC officers, I am pretty sure have revenue targets which decide their own benefits .Everyone is bothered with their own pension and knighthood, no one wants to understand that this is a disaster for UK. There seems to be an evil glee when contractors get bankrupted or on the suicides caused by loan charge and people want to see more of us being punished through IR35 for the crime of working and not being on doles. The petition urges government that no one is a tax avoider and contractors pay their fair share and will be happy to pay more for country's development but through a clear law. HMRC's promise of no retrospective tax is sham as GSK contractors and many bank contractors have received letters from HMRC. This is all private sector so if there was a promise what has happened to it? The petition urges everyone to try to get this to 100,000 signatures so that we can push for a debate in parliament.
