The Issue

  1. Employees are not allowed to swim, regardless of weather conditions. According to city rules, using the park for our own personal benefit is prohibited. This can be especially challenging on extremely hot days when the sun is beating down on us, as it limits our ability to cool off and remain comfortable while working. As a result, it can make it more difficult for guards to perform to their full potential.
  2. Employees are required to pay admission to the very facility where they work. As city employees, this is surprising, especially considering the limited benefits currently available to us. Many organizations offer their employees complimentary or discounted access to the facilities, requiring staff to pay full admission feels discouraging, more specifically, when employees dedicate significant time and effort to ensuring the facility runs safely for the public.
