I experienced abuse will boarding at Dollar Academy.
Sadly I am not alone.
There are many of us who experienced abused at Dollar Academy.

'Further to my post yesterday, re: being on the radio talking about the horrific effects of Boarding School . Warning...this will not be easy reading.
There are people who say 'it was fine, it was character building. It made me the person I am today.'
OK. You're entitled to that thought, but many of you will now be parents.
I have heard and read much about the boarding system, so I have a few questions
Is it OK for your ten year old to be humiliated by someone who is supposed to care for them?
Is it OK for your 10 year old to be verbally abused and yelled at by their carer?
Is it OK for your 13 year old to be cracked on the skull by someone who is supposed to look after them?
Is it OK for your 11 year old to be beaten, have their hair ripped out by the roots, slammed up against the wall by the throat and have their head put through a plate glass window by the person entrusted with their care?
Are you happy to see your 12 year old beaten with a cricket bat by the person paid to care for them?
The person you are paying good money to care for your child.
You are? OK. I have a few more questions. These may make you squirm somewhat.
Are you happy for your 10 year old to be having a bath while the person into whose care you entrusted them masturbates under his trousers?
Are you OK with your 10 year old to be spanked by a man in his 50s. Put across his knee and spanked. Sometimes the man will put his hand up his shorts before the spanking?
Are you OK with your 10 year old being taken to a masters study and being made to strip, while the person in whose care you placed your child fondles him?
Are you happy to have your pre-teen son raped by the person you pay a large amount of money to be their carer, their parent?
Are you?
Are you willing to pay a small fortune and let this happen?
Are you happy that your child's school is fully aware of these things?
If you are, then you need to take a long hard look at your parenting skills.
If you are as repulsed by this as many, many people really should be, if this makes you sick to your core, then it is time to fight for those who survived this
There are thousands of Survivors who wear their pain on the inside.
Your attitude that it was 'character building' is a part of the problem
Change that problem.
Make the schools admit liability for their duty of care.
Make them pay for the quality treatment that the shattered lives and compensate people for the years of hell they have been through.'
