HISD has a 2017-2018 budget short fall of $200+million.  They are proposing massive changes that will impact our students' quality of education in order to balance the budget.  HISD is ready to act on these proposals without undergoing due diligence on the impacts of their decisions.

A performance audit will look for both efficiency of the budget as well as the effectiveness of its expenses.  In addition to HISD's finances, this audit will include an analysis of other items such as staffing, transportation, program effectiveness and facility asset utilization.
