Mandarin Immersion Magnet School Principal Criteria

Mandarin Immersion Magnet School Principal Criteria
The Issue
We, the parents and teachers of Mandarin Immersion Magnet School (MIMS) of Houston Independent School District (HISD), would like to uniformly voice our requirement that the following criteria be prerequisite for our new principal search:
1. Be bilingual in Mandarin - The new principal must be fluent in the Mandarin language, with a commanding understanding on how to teach the language across the spectrum of students from PreK-8th.
2. Be bi-cultural in Chinese (Eastern) & Western Culture - The new principal must be aware of Chinese culture traditions, practices, and manners along with its nuances compared to the western culture so that he/she may be able to communicate effectively with our teachers, foreign teachers/principals/delegates visiting our campus, communicate effectively with the parent community, and teach our students Chinese traditions and cultures.
3. Have Mandarin immersion instruction experience - The new principal should have prior experience in leading a Mandarin immersion program and school to better lead and establish a vision for how to develop the program further in the foreseeable future.
*** NOTE: Please only sign this if you are a parent of a MIMS student, or a teacher at MIMS. Please do not share with people outside of the school. ***
Just sign, there is no need to pay any money.
Thank you.
