Growing up in Fostoria, Ohio, football was never just a sport; it was a way of life. I remember the anticipation of Friday night lights and the pride swelling in our community when our team took to the field. Sadly, this passion is fading, and it's not just because of changes in the game. We've seen a decline not in the talent or spirit of our players, but in the leadership guiding them.

Our current head coach, Coach Angelone, has consistently been unable to lead our team to victories. More worrying than the losing streak is the atmosphere that's taken root under his leadership. Fostoria's young athletes are losing their motivation to participate, with some even giving up the sport entirely. These aren't just numbers on a roster; these are young individuals who dream of one day playing for a state championship, and they deserve every opportunity to chase those dreams.

Favoritism has also been an ongoing issue. Players feel discouraged, believing no matter how hard they work, their efforts might never be recognized because of the inequitable treatment Coach Angelone has shown. This behavior doesn't just undermine team morale; it teaches our youth the wrong values about fairness and hard work. In a town where unity and community pride are paramount, we cannot sit back while these young athletes suffer the consequences of poor leadership.

It is crucial to address this issue head-on by seeking a new head coach for our high school football team. We need someone who can bring out the best in our players and foster an environment of dedication, fairness, and respect. By doing so, we can renew the spirit of Fostoria's football, rekindle pride in our school sports, and most importantly, ensure our young athletes have their rightful chance to shine.

Let us come together as a community to demand a change. Our football team, our students, and our town deserve better. Please add your signature to this petition, urging the Fostoria City School Board to make the necessary changes. Together, we can ensure the future of our young athletes is bright and filled with opportunity.
