Dhamalalaihamala: Stop Unethical Journalism

Dhamalalaihamala: Stop Unethical Journalism
The issue
We want Himalaya TV to remove programs like DhamalakoHamla. Not only is the program a poor form of journalism but also stands against all media ethics and standards. In addition, it degrades women and belittles them with the types of questions the interviewer asks, especially to female interviewees. Which is a clear act of sexual harassment. In the recent interview with actress Reecha Sharma, interviewer Rishi Dhamala insists her to talk about her sex life, despite her repeated requests not to interfere in her personal life. This has not been the first time Rishi Dhamala has done this to female Interviewees. His clear mistreatment and lack of respect for women can also be seen with another female actor, Priyanka Karki in a previous interview.
We believe that Himalaya TV should be held responsible for not maintaining media ethics & standards. Shows like DhamalakoHamala reinforces the same patriarchal value system that discriminates women and constantly objectifies and hypersexualizes women. Women’s existence transcends beyond her media representation as sex objects. And shows like DhamalakoHamala limits women within the topic of sex.
