Early January 2020, an Opossum, now named Scarlett, was beaten by golfers and left blind and with a broken jaw. She was found and taken to the Wildlife Rehab of Greenville. She weighed only 2 lbs and still had baby teeth. She is expected to recover but it's going to take a long time to heal from her wounds.

I'm starting this petition in the hopes that the Hilton Head Island golf course investigates this matter, finds the golfer or golfers involved and has them removed from being allowed to play at their course in the future. I'd also like the golf course to post clearly, in multiple places on their property, that animal abuse is not tolerated and they will not stand for this happening on their course ever again. I would also like the golfers to be held accountable for the medical and rehab bills for this opossum, perhaps even to volunteer at a rescue and get educated on wildlife and how amazing they are.

Let's get the golf course to stand up for it's local wildlife that share the land with them and let's get the mayor of Greenville to take a stand to protect the local wildlife too!
