Lucas is a lab beloved by all Hillsdale students and might even be considered the Hillsdale College football mascot (sorry Charlie Charger). When not on the football field showing his support for the team, Lucas enjoys hanging out in Dr. Jennings office in Lane Hall. He never fails to bring a smile to our faces when we see him. Hillsdale can be a stressful place, and Lucas' presence alleviates that stress for all.

Recently, it has come to our attention that an email has been sent to Dr. Jennings (assuming by administration) implying that Lucas is to be left at home when he comes to work in Lane. Not only does this seem to sadden Dr. Jennings by having to leave his companion at home, Lucas will no longer get to experience the joy and attention of the multitude of students who love him, and we will no longer get to experience that joy we feel from seeing him. 

Seeing as how Lucas has never caused an issue on campus, does not bark, is extremely docile, is bathroom trained and is wildly obedient, we believe he should be allowed to accompany Dr. Jennings up the hill to his office. 

We, the students of Hillsdale College, kindly ask that you reconsider and allow Dr. Jennings to shamelessly bring Lucas to work every day, as he brings happiness to all who meet him.
