In light of the many incidences of children being left in hot cars I suggest MANDATORY (key word) "automated" calls from ALL licensed and unlicensed (even grandma's house) day cares, day programs, baby sitters, preschools public and private...etc. This should be implemented for all children under the age of 5 OR those minors/adults with disabilities who attend any kind if day program where they are dropped off. An automated call should go out to the parents/guardians and at least 2 others (preferably those listed on the emergency contact list) approximately one hour after normal drop off if the parent has not called to report the absence. This practice is common in many regular grade schools and should be mandatory everywhere! One phone call can save a life. ***This should not however, place blame on the childcare providers if their system set in place faulters.
