It feel like our motorway roadworks drag on for ages, slowing everyone down and possibly costing the country millions in wasted time and energy.

It would be great if some form of legislation, regulation or other enforcement could be made to speed up the process of motorway repairs. Whether this is employing more people to get to job done quicker, completely closing motorways but for very short periods of time (i.e. days not weeks) to enable the work to be done more quickly, or some other method.. anything faster that our current situation would surely be an improvement. Instead at present it feels like it's getting worse! I sometimes journey up the M5 and M6 and I can't remember the last time I didn't encounter a vast number of 50mph sections, lane closures, diversions, etc. seemingly with no progress from week to week, month to month, and even year to year!

I urge Highways England and/or any other organisations responsible to really look into the root causes of this problem and try to find a way to get it under control, so that these essential works (and I'm sure they are indeed all essential) can be carried out and completed much quicker.
