I am heartbroken every time that I see a beautiful home in Highland Park bulldozed to make room for a cookie cutter new build. Many of the new builder spec homes look the exact same - rectangles with big black windows. I would like to petition Highland Park City Council to look into passing a Renovation Tax Incentive or Demolition Review Board to discourage new buyers/builders from tearing down old homes, and instead incentivize them to renovate existing homes.
