kevin macnciol started this petition to HIGHLAND COUNCIL

At a time, when the Highlands is seeing mass austerity, a rise in the number of food banks, rising rents, crumbling roads and when Highland Council are cutting back on so many things to close a gap in funding this year, how can it be justified to spend £758,350 on an art project which nobody wants (remember the controversial “tilting pier” plan).

The council themselves have admitted that a complete culture change is being implemented in the local authority to close the funding gap, council staff will be in the driving seat leading efficiency savings and contributing ideas for income generation.

Where is the savings with this art project? What income is the project going to generate?

If its arts they want why is Eden Court set to lose a further 10% of its funding, £30,000, in the year 2021/22.

The Riverside Art Project is a complete waste of precious public money, which will be a vanity project. The stepping stones, which alot of people have said are going to be dangerous to kids, the designers response "we don’t think so as their parents will be with them.

Really? Are the parents going to be with them 24/7. Let's see how much money is saved, when let's say "Little Joe", falls and breaks his leg, his parents then sue the council. mmmmmm.

"It will be somewhere people will want to go and get a cup of tea and coffee"

Will it, will it really? What about the many cafes and restuarants which are already on the Riverside.

The money could be spent on so many other things in areas which people actually want.

We the undersigned would like to raise a formal complaint with Highland Council about the above issues.
