Thank you so much for your support and taking time to read this. It means a lot.
We are delighted that a group of senior cross-party MPs and select committee chairs including Yvette Cooper, Harriet Harman and Caroline Nokes have tabled an amendment to the Domestic Abuse Bill that would make arrangements for serial and serious domestic abuse perpetrators and stalkers to be registered and monitored in the same way other serial and violent offenders are.
We know perpetrators go from victim to victim and cause harm to many, yet they fall though the cracks time and time again. We are determined to change the culture of focusing on the victim and asking questions of them and their behaviour rather than investigating the perpetrator, joining up their violent offending history and holding them to account for their repeat, patterned behaviour.
Since lockdown began 33 women and 4 children have been brutally murdered. These are not first time offenders. No-one starts with murder.
It is time these violent and abusive men were made visible and accountable.
And we need your activism! The Domestic Abuse Bill will reach Report Stage in early July.
