The Indian legislation completely ignores the fact that men can be victims too. Sections 354, 509 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) deal with sexual assault — outraging modesty, eve-teasing and rape — but they are all for women. While this is a great thing in and of itself, it is rather unfortunate that the only section of the IPC that deals with sexual assault on a man is 377 — the infamous section that makes sodomy an offence and is misused to perpetuate sexism and alienate the LGBT community. Nor does it differentiate between consensual and non-consensual sexual acts between two male adults. Even the "Vishaka guidelines" that are put in place to prevent and redress sexual harassment in work places only concern women.The question of modesty, if at all, only exists in women.

It is a strange thing that the only form of any recognised sexual wrongdoing towards a man is sodomy, under section 377 of the IPC. So basically a man needs to be sodomised for the government to take notice.

The Indian judicial system not only favours women but demonises men by not giving any legal remedies specific to men. 

There are instances, both in Public and Private sector organisations where men have been harassed sexually by senior female staff. This petition aims at invoking the Fundamental Rights of "Right to Equality" and "Right to Life". It is high time that the Government and Judiciary heard the voices of men and made laws that are unbiased and non-discriminatory.
