Hey Tim Hortons, Accept Reusables Mugs Again!

The Issue

Since the pandemic, Tim Hortons has refused to allow customers to use reusable mugs. It's now 2022. Current evidence strongly suggests transmission from contaminated surfaces does not contribute substantially to new infections [1].

According to their website, Tim Hortons serves over 5 million cups of coffee every day [2] - that's nearly 2 billion cups a year! The cups are not recyclable (although the lids are in some municipalities), so most cups end up in the trash or littering our roads and natural areas.

Tims' competitors have began to accept reusable mugs, and Tim Hortons needs to follow suit. Starbucks uses a contact-free method by having the customer place their reusable mug in a wide-mouthed mug. This way the employee ever touches the customer's mug. It's so simple.

Tim Hortons, please reintroduce the use of reusable mugs in your restaurants! #contactlesscoffee
