Hey State MPs HERITAGE IS NOT A DIRTY WORD. SAVE INNER WEST HERITAGE
The issue
HERITAGE IS NOT A DIRTY WORD
Dear Ms, Leong, Ms Shetty and Ms Haylen,
We call on you, our local Inner West MPs to publicly state that you will advocate in word and action to protect Inner West Council Heritage homes, streets and neighbourhoods in the face of several looming threats.
Failure to address and advocate for these issues in the lead up to the election will result in our votes going toward those that will push to protect our heritage neighbourhoods.
Inner West Council Fairer Futures and Fairer Futures 2 has been handed over to NSW State Government which proposes massive uplift across the Inner West, rezoning heritage homes and streets and hand them to developers.
Parramatta Corridor Rezoning plans have been handed by Inner West council to NSW State Government, with 8k plus homes proposed along the corridor, abutting heritage homes and streets across Annandale, Stanmore and Camperdown and completely halving Leichhardt with proposed towers.
The Australian Government's Productivity Commission is seeking feedback on an interim report to reduce housing regulation, removing most heritage conservation areas and scrapping planning regulations, destroying valuable heritage and putting growth in the wrong locations.
The NSW State Government has capitulated to Developers under the guise of State Significant Development and Developer incentives for the misnomer of ‘affordable housing’ due to their ongoing failure to build and maintain public housing.
Destroying our heritage homes, streets and neighbourhoods is not the solution.
We oppose removing Heritage Protections in the Inner West for future development.
We demand you speak up and act to protect heritage items in the Inner West and oppose delisting heritage homes and streets.
We insist that you speak up and reject overshadowing and privacy impacts of towers are considered on suburban amenity and streetscape.
Any future development MUST consider heritage homes, streets and neighbourhoods.
Inner West residents will be voting in the State election for representatives who actively represent these concerns and advocate for heritage protections and oppose overshadowing/privacy of current homes and streets with the push for development.
