The Issue

This petition is to stop the detruction of:

1) Borehamwood's last remaining rich green belt in Cowley Hill for 800 homes. To stop the join up of Borehamwood and Shenley, and to stop these arable food crop fields being destroyed forever

2) Strangeways Farm Stables and the green belt fields that serve it. The stables is home to 200 horses and the largest stables serving Herts and North London. To ensure this beautiful historical land is preserved and not changed from green belt to an employement site which is surplus to requirements

3) Green belt at Organ Hall Farm for 165 houses and to stop the join up of Borehamwood and Radlett

These proposed developed would destroy 130 hectares of green belt, equivalent to  321 football pitches.

Borehamwood has been developed beyond belief in the last 15 years and it's roads and infrastructure can take no more. We cannot sustain more development of this scale in Borehamwood and the resultant traffic in Borehamwood, Shenley, Radlett and Elstree.

We believe the housing targets provided by central government are too high following Brexit and until we have new figures following the Census, we should only develop brownfield sites for housing.

We are in a climate emergency, and need to protect our green spaces and trees which keep us alive. Once our Green Belt is gone it is gone forever.
