Build a dedicated road for the Hitchin Industrial estate

Build a dedicated road for the Hitchin Industrial estate
Why this petition matters

We are petitioning the council to improve road infrastructure for HGVs travelling to the Hitchin industrial estate.
Heavy goods vehicles travel through many residential areas of Hitchin to get to the industrial estate. Roads that were never designed to handle heavy industrial traffic are under increased strain, and as a result we are seeing excess noise, pollution, damage to roads, and risk to life as HGVs pass by parks, nurseries, and schools and often mount the pavement due to narrow roads.
Last year, an HGV shed its load on a residential road. It was pure luck that no one was injured, and next time we might not be so lucky.
Hertfordshire County Council commissioned a study in 2017, discussing many options to improve access, including a dedicated road between Stotfold road and the industrial estate. We are asking them to take action based on their own report and make improvements that will benefit both businesses and residents.
We have the support of our local NHDC Councillors (Judi Billing, Val Bryant and Ian Albert) and have been encouraged to petition the county council due to the level of funding needing to bring effective change.
