St. James Anglican Church in King's Cove, Newfoundland is scheduled to be deconsecrated, and there are threats to demolish the building despite pleas from the town's residents.

The church made history 120 years ago, when Catholic carpenters built the church for the Anglican merchants. It was one of the first examples in the province where the two communities came together in such a way, and has stood as a testament to all people coming together for the betterment of a community.

Now the mayor wants to have the building demolished to prevent a local artist from buying the deconsecrated church and converting it into an art gallery and preserving its heritage.

We, the people of King's Cove and those who stand with us in solidarity, are asking Heritage Canada to intervene and save this historical building from destruction.
