Greetings.  My name is Dustin Collins, and I am petitioning for a Pump Track for the great city of Hendersonville, TN.

  This petition is to show support and to prove that there is a genuine local need for an asphalt pump track in our town.

  The new pump track will be a free-to-use, safe, inclusive and family orientated sports facility for users of all ages. Professionally designed and constructed by a company selected by our officials with design input from the local community.

A pump track is a circuit of rollers, banked turns and features designed to be ridden completely by riders "pumping"—generating momentum by up and down body movements, instead of pedaling or pushing. It was originally designed for the mountain bike and BMX scene, and now, due to concrete and asphalt constructions, is also used by skateboard, scooter, skates, and accessible to wheelchairs. Pump tracks are relatively simple to use and cheap to construct, and low maintenance.

  Pump tracks are proven to increase health, well-being, community cohesion whilst reducing social exclusion and anti-social behavior. The pump track will not only benefit users, it will enhance the town and will be an asset to the whole community.

  I have lived Hendersonville for the majority of my life.  I have seen the the city grow and expand since 1991.  We have created many areas and parks for people to enjoy, and there is still space for more enjoyment such as Veterans Park. 

  Also, there are very few of these parks in our areas besides Watkins Park downtown.  Watkins Park pump track has been a great addition for that area.  By having such a track will draw a diverse group of different athletics to our community as well.
