Homelessness in Flagstaff has been around forever, impacting the wellbeing of locals and people in poverty significantly. Every time you step onto Milton Road or the shops downtown, you are 100% guaranteed to see someone panhandling, asking for food, or asking for a blessing. One out of one thousand people in Flagstaff are homeless. If you insert yourself into that situation, would you be able to survive? It is a worldwide issue, striking down anyone who struggles financially. It is a miracle that we have homes and people who are willing to support us. We want to find a way to help get the homeless into a safer environment or help them get a nice meal every so often. It is important to us that everyone in the City of Flagstaff is cared for and has a chance at a full life because we have the opportunity to make that change. There are a couple shelters and non-profit organizations in Flagstaff that are currently in the process of solving this problem, but they aren’t very well known. We have some ways we can improve this, as there is no solving this worldwide issue without heavy persuasion. Some of the ways we can help the City of Flagstaff reduce homelessness are by putting up flyers promoting these shelters, creating petitions such as this one, and personally getting involved in programs to represent our change.
