The Issue

To Simon Property Management and Security,

We, the undersigned employees, are submitting this petition to express our concerns regarding the current employee parking situation and to request a safer and more accessible parking system.

Employees are currently required to park a significant distance from their workplaces in designated employee parking areas. While we understand the need to manage parking throughout the property, the current system creates serious concerns, especially for employees who work late shifts and must walk long distances to their vehicles after dark.

Many employees, particularly women, do not feel safe walking alone through large parking areas at night. Employees may finish work late when parking lots are less populated, lighting may be limited in certain areas, and there are fewer people around to provide a sense of security. No employee should have to feel anxious or unsafe simply because they are walking to their vehicle after completing a shift.

In addition to safety concerns, employees are often expected to arrive early enough to park far away and walk a considerable distance to their workplace, even after working long shifts. During poor weather conditions, including rain, snow, and extreme temperatures, this becomes even more difficult and potentially unsafe.

We are asking Simon Property Management and Security to better advocate for employees and consider improvements to the current parking system. Potential solutions could include:

Designating additional or closer parking areas specifically for employees.
Providing safer parking options for employees working late-night shifts.
Creating a system that allows employees to park closer after a certain time in the evening.
Increasing security patrols and visibility in employee parking areas.
Improving lighting and security throughout employee parking locations and walking routes.
Providing security escorts or another form of assistance for employees who do not feel safe walking to their vehicles at night.
Creating a more organized and accessible employee parking system that considers both employee safety and the distance employees are required to walk.
We believe that employee safety and well-being should be a priority. Employees are an essential part of the businesses operating within this property, and we respectfully ask that Simon Property Management and Security listen to these concerns and work with employees and businesses to develop a safer, more practical parking solution.

We hope that by bringing these concerns forward collectively, we can create positive changes that make employees feel safer and more supported while traveling to and from work.

We respectfully request that Simon Property Management and Security review the current employee parking system and take action toward creating a safer and more accessible solution.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
