In 2020, all of our customers welcomed the south addition to our bakery in Kensington Market. Permits were on hold at the time, but we built it in good faith, following all the rules as best we could on the advice that we could retroactively apply once the permit offices reopened. We most likely wouldn’t have survived the pandemic without it - we all remember social distancing! But now, after a long, confusing bureaucratic battle, with virtually every department of the city, and even the province, bureaucracy trumps the interest of small business. We are being forced to demolish our addition. We have found some allies within City Council, and there is the faintest hope that we can preserve our addition.
