The Issue

On the 15th of October, our world shattered when we received a call from my autistic brother. He was crying and screaming, trapped in a dire situation in Turkey, where he was facing imprisonment for drug smuggling. This was our harrowing introduction to the ruthless reality of drug trafficking gangs preying on vulnerable individuals.

My brother had been missing for two weeks, and during this time, he became another victim of the tactics employed by these international gangs. They target people with learning disabilities, exploiting their vulnerabilities to further their illegal activities. This is not an isolated incident; it is a growing crisis that demands urgent attention and action.

According to reports by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, drug trafficking is a global concern affecting millions, with criminal networks employing cunning manipulations and coercions to expand their operations. Vulnerable people with learning disabilities are particularly at risk, often unaware of the peril they are put into until it is too late, like in our family's heartbreaking situation.

We must urge global governments and international law enforcement agencies to enact swift, coordinated efforts to secure the safe and prompt return of individuals like my brother. Immediate steps include:

1. Expedited investigations into missing person reports where learning disabilities are involved, ensuring no time is lost in locating these individuals.

2. Collaboration between international law enforcement agencies to monitor and dismantle trafficking networks targeting vulnerable populations.

3. Implementation of prevention programs and support networks tailored for individuals with learning disabilities, educating them about the dangers and signs of exploitation.

4. Establishment of diplomatic avenues to negotiate the safe repatriation of citizens ensnared in such situations abroad.

Vulnerable members of our society deserve protection and support, not exploitation. No family should endure the anguish and fear of having a loved one manipulated by these criminal syndicates. Join us to demand immediate action and help save countless lives from this horrific fate.

Please sign this petition to make a real difference. We need your voice to amplify the cries of those who are often unheard. Together, we can push for justice and bring our loved ones home safely.
