I am writing in the name of a nonprofit association for the protection of animals, Paws of Smederevo (Sape Smedereva) from the city of Smederevo in the republic of Serbia (more about us on our website -https://www.sape-smedereva.com/en). We strive to protect and help the abused and abandoned cats and dogs of our city and one of our goals is to educate people of their struggles and situations. The situation with abandoned, sick, and injured pets in Smederevo and the surrounding area is alarming and heartbreaking. To make matters worse, municipal shelters in Serbia are among the worst places for dogs. Our association is trying to find new homes for the dogs in our care, but we have problems with that because people often don't want dogs of mixed race and with no pedigree. The other great problem we have is collecting enough food and money for the veterinary costs we have. We hope that by reaching out to more people we could fund our work and find loving homes for our animals! We desperately need help!
