We, the undersigned residents, neighbors, friends, and community members, respectfully ask Upper Darby Animal Control and the appropriate officials to allow the ducks on Westbrook Drive to remain in their current home with the family who has lovingly cared for them since they were only a few days old.

These ducks are much more than backyard animals. They have become a beloved part of the neighborhood, families of residents,  and a source of happiness, companionship, and emotional comfort for the family who raised them. Over time, they have also brought joy to countless neighbors, children, families, and passersby who have come to know and enjoy them.

Many neighbors stop by simply to see the ducks, spend a few moments with them, and enjoy their presence. They have become what many of us affectionately consider our neighborhood “happy place.”

We understand that Upper Darby Animal Control has asked the family to rehome the ducks. We respectfully ask that this decision be reconsidered and that the family be given the opportunity to keep the ducks where they have been raised and cared for.

The family has made every effort to provide the ducks with a safe, clean, and appropriate environment. Their duck coop has been approved by zoning and is currently awaiting the necessary licensing and permits.

As neighbors who live in the surrounding area, we can personally attest that these ducks are well cared for and properly maintained. We have not experienced unreasonable noise, offensive odors, or other disturbances that would make their presence a nuisance to the neighborhood.

Most importantly, these ducks have become a positive part of our community. Removing them would not simply mean relocating animals—it would mean taking away a source of companionship and happiness from the family that raised them and from the many neighbors and their children who have grown attached to them.

We respectfully ask Upper Darby Animal Control and the appropriate officials to consider the wishes of the surrounding community, the care that has been provided, and the positive impact these ducks have had on the neighborhood.
