The Issue

At Chaminade Julienne, we have been dealing with an unfair and biased shorts policy that unfairly restricts students' freedom to wear what they want and discriminates against different body types. Many of us have felt judged or excluded because of these rules, which ignore comfort, personal style, and body diversity.

This policy limits our ability to wear what is comfortable to our body type and feel accepted and creates an environment where students are judged by their looks instead of their character. We need to recognize that clothing choices should not get in the way of learning, nor should they be used to profile students based on their body types.

As students, we see the need for a positive learning environment, but we believe there is a better way to respect individual rights while keeping the school's standards. By updating the shorts policy, Chaminade Julienne can show its commitment to promoting inclusivity and respect for all students.

We are urging school administrators to review and change the shorts policy. We require a learning environment where every student feels valued and comfortable and free from unnecessary judgment based on how our body types look in certain clothes. The same as we are not all the same in gender, race, or religion, and our bodies differ and do not look the same in the exact same clothing. We should not be judged for how our clothes fit our bodies or told to wear pants only because of our body type. We encourage Chaminade Julienne to revise the policy for not only the benefit of us but for the benefit of future generations of CJ students.

Please join us in pushing for a fair and updated school dress code policy by signing this petition.
