Justice For Justin Fatal Hit And Run
The Issue
A fatal hit and run on South Carolina Highway 88, December 18, 2021, took the life of our beloved Justin Monroe.
Justin’s family is offering a reward, currently reaching $1500.00, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible person or persons.
Justin was a loving son, father, brother, and friend to many. He was genuine and loyal, he loved nature, hiking, fishing, travel, and adored his family. He played guitar, sang, and had a clever sense of humor. It was common for Justin to walk in the area where he lived.
It’s safe to say that he was well known to the area, as well as being more than familiar with the community where he was fatally hit by someone that left the scene.
The unknown vehicle was traveling West on Highway 88, Old Greenville Highway, near Gray Fox Lane in Anderson County, South Carolina when they struck the pedestrian, Justin.
The accident occurred at approximately 6:50 PM. The vehicle may have damage to the right front end and passenger side.
Anyone with information on the identity of those responsible is asked to submit your anonymous tip by calling the South
Carolina Highway Patrol at 864-241-1000 or 1-800-768-1501, Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME SC (274-6372) or in one
of the following ways.
His name is Justin and he deserves justice. His family deserves answers. If you see, hear, or even suspect - please come forward.
“Unfortunately, hit-and-runs are increasing. Experts say staying to help the injured victim could save a life. So, why do people flee the scene of the accident?”
Hit-and-Run Stats: Putting Them in Perspective
Here’s what a national AAA study shows about the severity and frequency of hit-and-runs.
Hit-and-runs accounted for over 5% of traffic fatalities.
There’s an average increase of 7.2% every year.
Fleeing drivers accounted for 20% of pedestrian crash fatalities.
68% of people killed due to hit-and-runs were pedestrians and bicyclists.
To put it in perspective, that’s almost six deaths per day and more than one hit-and-run every minute on US roadways.
Reasons/Excuses for fleeing the scene are many. Drunk drivers. Distracted drivers ie; texting, having a suspended license, fictitious tag, do not have insurance, or do not qualify for coverage. Popular opinion: some simply do not care. Some are running scared, too selfish to turn themselves in. Cowards.
Hit and run is NO ACCIDENT. Someone knows, someone is living with the fact that they took an innocent life. A person that was loved, again, he has a name…his name is Justin.
We want Justice for Justin.
