The Issue

On Tuesday October 7th, our economics teacher Jonathan Edward's was unrighteously  reassigned from his class room. He was removed from his position as an economics teacher in the Chenango Forks High School district,  and placed in the Chenango Forks Elementary School as an office clerk. As a result of this,  his salary was lessened by 20% and was moved from full time to part time. This was because he told the school district that he didnt want to teach a college economics class. He told the district in January of 2025 that he did not want to teach the class because he did not have enough prep periods, giving the district 8 months to figure it out. Mr.Edwards also told the district that if they had found someone else to teach the class, he would train them. Not only does this effect Mr.Edwards, but it effects the students as well. By removing one of the only economics teachers we have in the district, it is hindering our education and ability to learn. As of right now, all of the economics students have an "extended substitute teacher." We as students feel the need to peacefully protest for Mr.Edwards due to the fact that we are not getting the proper education that we need and we feel it is unfair to remove a teacher who's been teaching for over 20 years because he said no to teaching a class. We feel as if this is a violation of not only his rights, but ours as well.
